The ACTF Chair, Dr Zoë Ayres, attended the Emerging Analytical Professionals event this year and presented an award to Harriet Walachowski, in recognition of her long and valuable service to the Analytical Science Network.
The Analytical Science Network (ASN) is a group that was established nearly 30 years ago, specifically for early career analytical scientists, funded primarily by the Analytical Chemistry Trust Fund and managed by a group of volunteers.
Their key aim is to foster the careers of present and prospective analytical scientists and to promote analytical science to a wider community. Members are from both industry and academia and represent a diverse range of analytical disciplines.
The aim of the EAP weekend is to provide networking and continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities for early career analytical scientists across all disciplines, open to both industry and academia.
ASN has been hugely successful in bringing together early career researchers, some of whom may not have the opportunity to attend conferences before and in providing valuable experience in organising scientific events.
ACTF trustees are very grateful to Harriet and all of the ASN volunteers, past and present, for their excellent work.
